Charger Swimmers Beat Ashland, Lose to SVSU in Tri-Meet

Hillsdale Charger swim team traveled to Saginaw Valley State University Saturday afternoon for a tri-meet against Saginaw and Ashland. Chargers won to Ashland 153 - 122 and lost to Saginaw 214 - 80. 

Anika Ellingson won the 100 breaststroke (1:05.91) and Victoria Addis finished fourth (1:08.16). Addis had another strong swim in the 200 breaststroke for second place (2:35.48).

Katherine Heeres took second in the 100 backstroke (1:01.91) and swam the 1000 for the first time this season and finished with a strong third place (11:01.18). Heeres also finished fourth in the 100 freestyle (55.75).

Tiffany Farris finished third in the 100 backstroke (1:05.33) and Bailey Bickerstaff had a close fourth place (1:05.80). Charger backstrokers continued to perform well in the 200 backstroke with Allie Matti finishing third (2:18.60) and Bickerstaff with another fourth (2:19.69).

The Charger freshmen had an exciting second and third finish in the 200 freestyle with Hannah Wilkens (2:02.09) and Mary Vita (2:02.27). Wilkens also swam the 400 IM and finished in third place (4:51.65).

Grace Houghton had a strong second place in the 200 butterfly (2:12.85) and a third place in the 500 (5:28.20)

The 200 medley A-relay of Bowen, Ellingson, Rao, and Vita finished third (1:53.28) and the 200 freestyle A-relay of Heeres, Addis, Farris, and Rao also finished third (1:42.49).

Other notable swims include Wilkens finished fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:39.92). Ellingson swam the 400 IM for the first time in her entire life and finished in fourth place (4:54.01). Allie Matti took fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:03.56)
