As close as the Charger women's basketball team came at times, it couldn't get over the top in an 80-73 loss to Tiffin University Thursday night at the Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena. The loss makes Hillsdale 6-18 overall and 3-12 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

On a couple of occasions, Hillsdale, who trailed the entire game, pulled to within one point of the Dragons. But Tiffin answered every Hillsdale mini-run with one of its own, keeping the Chargers from sustaining any momentum.

Tiffin hit an off-balance 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer that bumped its halftime lead from five to eight, representing one of those tough shots that halted Charger momentum in this game.

Sophomore guard Grace Touchette had a terrific ball game for Hillsdale, scoring a career-high 24 points on 10-for-16 shooting from the field. She was equally adept at driving to the basket as she was draining long-distance shots. She has taken greater command of the offense in the past few weeks, and she's scoring at a rate better than any other time in her career.

Junior guard Jaycie Burger also had a strong offensive game with 16 points. Senior Sydney Anderson added 10. Freshman forward Kennedy Pratt had a very nice stretch of play in the second half, finishing with 7 points and 3 rebounds.
