Allie Dewire Earns G-MAC Player of the Week Honor

Throughout her four-year career, Hillsdale College guard Allie Dewire has been a relentless force on the basketball court. She may have never been better than she was last weekend, and Monday afternoon, she was rewarded for it.

Dewire was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the first time in her career she's earned that honor. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office.

In leading Hillsdale to impressive home wins over Tiffin and Cedarville, Dewire was at the peak of her powers, using her quickness to the ultimate advantage. She averaged 28.5 points per game in the two Charger wins, while shooting an extraordinary 16-for-22 from the field (72.7 percent). In Thursday's win over Tiffin, she set a new career-high with 33 points, going 9-for-11 from the field and 15-for-18 from the free throw line. That point total was the highest by any Charger women's basketball player in a regulation game in seven years, and her 15 made free throws are the third-most made in a game in school history.

In Saturday's win over Cedarville, Dewire tallied 24 points, 8 of them coming in the game's final 90 seconds when Hillsdale held off the defending conference regular season champs to seal the victory.

Dewire now ranks fourth in the G-MAC in scoring average (14.8 ppg) and is third in the conference with 93 made free throws on the season. She originally hails from Toledo, Ohio.
