A sign of a good team is having different players step up with big performances from one game to another.

Thursday night, it was Brooke Borowski's turn.

The senior guard set a new career-high in both scoring (21 points) and 3-point field goals made (5) in leading the Hillsdale College women's basketball team to a 68-55 win over the host Ferris State University Bulldogs.

Borowski got into Thursday's game early in the first half, and responded by making three 3-pointers, getting off to a good start. She kept her confidence and level of play high after halftime, when Hillsdale made the decisive run of the game.

Thanks in large part to Borowski's terrific shooting, Hillsdale went on a 12-0 run to open the second half, breaking open what had been a two-point margin at intermission. The run grew to as big as 23-6, giving the Chargers a 19-point lead, with Borowski leading the way.

Ferris State rallied to cut the lead to single digits, but Hillsdale had an answer for every FSU attempt to cut the lead further down the stretch. Kadie Lowery and Ashlynn Landherr combined to make five of six free throws in the final 38 seconds to preserve the win.

This was Hillsdale's 10th road win of the season, the second-most wins away from home in one season in program history. This 2014-15 Charger team now only trails the 2009 GLIAC championship squad for road wins in a season (12).

Freshman center Allie Dittmer played a strong game with 10 points and 7 rebounds off the bench. Senior Megan Fogt led the Chargers' dominating performance on the boards with a game-high 13. Hillsdale pounded the Bulldogs to the tune of 51-33 on the glass in this game.

Sophomore guard Morgan Blair had 5 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists, while Landherr also dished out 4 assists. Junior forward Sarah Theut returned to action and contributed 5 rebounds off the bench for Hillsdale.

The Chargers are back home Saturday afternoon hosting Grand Valley State University at 1 p.m.
