Road Warriors!

Box Score

Wearing the blues has meant singing the blues for the opponents of the 2014-15 Hillsdale College women's basketball team.

The Chargers improved to 9-1 on the road this season with a 59-54 win over Lake Superior State University Saturday afternoon inside the Bud Cooper Gymnasium. Hillsdale is now 10-4 overall and 6-4 in the GLIAC, and returns home to face two more Upper Peninsula programs next week.

This win completed a 2-0 road trip for Hillsdale as its North Division leg of the schedule got underway. Saturday's win was somewhat unusual for the team in that it lost the rebounding battle for just the second time this season, and it made just four 3-point baskets. But focus and discipline in other aspects of the game helped see the team through.

The Chargers went 19-for-22 from the free throw line in the game, an impressive 86 percent clip. Hillsdale went 10-for-10 from the charity stripe in the last 6:22 of the ballgame. Four of those were drained by sophomore guard Morgan Blair, who had another outstanding game in leading the Chargers to the win.

Blair finished with a team-high 17 points to go along with 3 rebounds in 29 minutes on the floor. She committed just one turnover and made all seven of her free throws in the contest. Four of those makes came in the game's last two minutes.

Senior Megan Fogt powered her way to 16 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocked shots, going 6-for-11 from the floor. Junior Kelsey Cromer knocked down a pair of 3-pointers, and had 10 points for the Chargers.

Hillsdale doubled up LSSU on points in the paint (26-13) and turned 22 Laker turnovers into 21 points, crucial advantages in a low-scoring game that was tightly played the entire way.
