Hillsdale Loses GLIAC Opener

November 29, 2012 - An 18-4 second-half run pushed the Northwood University women's basketball team to a 70-51 win over Hillsdale College Thursday night at Jesse Philips Arena in the conference opener for both teams. 

The Chargers suffered their first loss of the season and are 3-1 overall, 0-1 in the GLIAC. Hillsdale will look to get back on track Saturday afternoon at home when it hosts Lake Superior State University starting at 3 p.m.

In a game that featured a lot of turnovers by both teams, the Timberwolves were able to find their shooting stroke first, and pulled away in the middle of the second half. After shooting 37 percent from the floor in the first half, Northwood increased its productivity to the tune of 50 percent in the second half, outscoring the Chargers 43-30 in the game's final 20 minutes.

Hillsdale did find success with emerging sophomore forward Megan Fogt, who had another big ballgame for the team. She led all players with 18 points, making nine of her 12 shots from the floor. She added eight rebounds and three steals in 32 minutes on the court. When the Chargers were able to get her the ball in the paint, she was usually successful.

Northwood outrebounded Hillsdale 38-30, and forced 25 turnovers in the contest. 

Junior Angela Bisaro had seven points for Hillsdale, while freshman Sarah Theut came off the bench to grab six rebounds in 17 minutes.
