Hillsdale College athletes win multiple titles at USA Shooting Junior Olympics Nationals

USA Shooting held the 2023 national Junior Olympic championship at Hillsdale College's own John A Halter Shooting Sports Education Center. International Skeet was June 9-12 while International Trap (Bunker) was June 16-18. The members of Hillsdale's Shotgun Team performed incredibly well leading to Junior Olympic Champions in both men's Trap and Skeet as well as other accolades.

In Skeet, Jordan Sapp's qualification score of 121/125 was the highest score of any competitor at the shoot. Josh Corbin's 115 also earned him a spot in the men's match Final. Once the dust had settled, Sapp's incredible finals performance earned him the Men's Skeet Junior Olympic Champion title. Corbin placed 1st in Collegiate Men's Skeet while Kyle Fleck's score of 111 earned him the bronze medal in the same category.

Bunker was yet again another successful event for Charger athletes. Josh Corbin, competing in a different sport than his specialty, broke 112/125 targets and placed him in the second position going into the men's match Final. In a close finish, Josh beat out the next highest scorer by only a single target and became the Men's Trap Junior Olympic Champion. For his qualification score, Corbin was selected to the USA Shooting Junior Olympic Squad, making him the only current cross-discipline athlete to be selected to two different USA Shooting Teams. Incoming freshman Ava Downs also made the Final, for women's Trap, in the 5th position. She stayed strong and moved up to finish 3rd, earning the bronze medal in Women's Trap. Sophia Bultema, a Para-Trap athlete, was only a single target out of a shoot-off to make the Women's Trap final and earned the top prize for Collegiate Women's Trap.

Five Chargers will travel to Marengo, Ohio to compete in the high school SCTP National Championship from July 5-15. Five Chargers (Sapp, Corbin, Fleck, Downs, and incoming freshman Madeline Corbin) will also be flying to South Korea to compete in the ISSF Junior World Championship in July.
