Hillsdale College Shotgun team members medal in USA Shooting Nationals and Junior Olympics

Five members of the Hillsdale College Shotgun Team competed in the USA Shooting Nationals and Junior Olympics held at Hillsdale's own Halter Shooting Sports Education Center from July 20th to August 6th.

While no Chargers earned accolades in International Trap at Nationals or Junior Olympics, sophomore Josh Corbin was only a single target from making the junior final at Nationals. This is even more impressive when considering that Corbin is a skeet shooter.

At the Junior Olympics for International Skeet, a trio of Hillsdale athletes all found success. With a score of 113/125, sophomore Kyle Fleck earned a bronze medal for Collegiate Men. Freshman Jordan Sapp made the final and finished in 6th with 116/125. Corbin earned the silver medal after tying for the highest score of the event, 120/125, and after finishing in 3rd in the finals was awarded a spot on the USA Shooting Junior Olympic Squad.

All three Charger skeet shooters again earned awards at Nationals. Sapp and Fleck were tied after qualification, each breaking 236/250. After the Junior final, Sapp finished fourth while Fleck took home the bronze. Corbin again was the team's high finisher and his score of 242/250 put him in 6th place overall and earned him a spot in both the Open and Junior finals. After all shots were fired, he won the silver medal in Junior Men.

All Chargers are sitting well going forward and are eager to compete for future USA Shooting team selections. Jordan Sapp's record of great performances awarded him the ability to represent the US at the upcoming world championships in Croatia.
