Charger Softball Team Splits Sunday Games

Game 1 box score: California PA 5, Hillsdale 0

Game 2 box score: Hillsdale 2, Pitt-Johnstown 0

Playing their fifth and sixth games in three days, the players on the Charger softball team got to go into their first off day on their Florida trip on a positive note.

After losing its first game to California (PA) 5-0, Hillsdale bounced back with two seventh-inning runs in a 2-0 win over Pitt-Johnstown in games played in Clermont, Florida. Hillsdale is now 3-8 on the season.

The Chargers were limited to three hits in the opener, coming off the bats of Lauren Renner, Natalie Walters and Anna Dixon.

Junior pitcher Dana Weidinger secured her second win of the season vs. Pitt-Johnstown with a dominant performance. She struck out five batters and allowed just four hits in the complete-game victory.

Freshman Reagan Gensiejewski had her first career multi-hit game in the second contest, going 2-for-3 to lead the offense. Carlin MacDonald-Gannon and Madison Rathbun scored Hillsdale's two runs in the seventh, and Amanda Marra had the team's lone run batted in during th egame.
