Charger Men Capture 6th at Midwest Regional

The Hillsdale College Chargers beat the regional rankings to finish sixth today at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Evansville, Indiana. They jumped up from the typical 8k to race their first, and only, 10k of the season. Grand Valley State University won the meet with 52 points, while Michigan Tech took second with 116. 

Senior Joey Humes will qualify for the NCAA Division II National meet as an individual after taking fourth overall in 31:24.5. He finished ahead of all other G-MAC opponents to beat his own personal best time. His time is also the second-fastest in G-MAC history.

Junior Morgan Morrison continues to improve as he finished second for the Chargers as 26th overall. His time of 32:31.5 is a new PR by more than a minute and a half. 

Junior Mark Miller and sophomore Adam Wier finished back-to-back taking 30th and 31st, respectively. Miller crossed the line in 32:44.5 and Wier set a new personal record of 32.48.6.

It was a day of firsts for freshman Mark Sprague as he ran his first collegiate regional race, and his first 10k. He finished 94th overall with a time of 34:10.2. 

Senior Alex Oquist came in next for Hillsdale in 129th, finishing in 35:11.3 for his first 10k cross country meet. And junior Jack Shelley took 140th overall in 35:29.0.
