Three for three, Humes is G-MAC MVP

Three for three, Humes is G-MAC MVP

Senior Joey Humes has led the G-MAC all season. Last Satruday was no different when he won his first conference cross country championship meet.

His winning time of 24:05.2 broke his own G-MAC record of 24:17.80 for an 8k. The next closest runner to him at Saturday's race finished in 24:18.1, just shy of Hume's previous record. Last year Humes qualified for the NCAA Division II national meet where he earned his first All-American award. Now he ranks among the top of Division II runners. He will spend the next two weeks training for the Midwest Regional meet in Evansville, Indiana.

Humes has won the G-MAC Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for each of the three meets he's run in this season. He began the year with a first-place victory at the Calvin College Knight Invitational. A month later he tested his limits even further at the Notre Dame Joe Paine Invitational where he took second among some of the nation's top Division I schools.
