USTFCCCA National Athletes of the Week release
The conference wasn't quite enough to contain the level of achievement senior Joseph Humes attained over the weekend.
Humes became the first person in the history of Hillsdale College men's cross country to be named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II Men's Athlete of the Week. That award came at the same time as he won his fifth career Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor.
In his 2019 season debut, Humes won the Knight Invitational Saturday morning, held on the campus of Calvin College. His winning 8K time of 24:49.9 represents the 13th best time on an 8K course in G-MAC history. It was the fourth overall win of his career. His time was 21 seconds better than the second-place finisher in the race.
