Don't close the book on the 2018 cross country season for Joseph Humes just yet.
The junior on the Hillsdale College men's cross country team put together a terrific race at Saturday's NCAA Division II regional, and was named the Great Midwest Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week. This was the fourth time this season he's earned the award.
Humes was the G-MAC's top finisher at the regional meet, held at Hillsdale's Hayden Park. He performed well on the 10K course in challenging conditions, finishing fifth overall with a time if 31:49.5. His fifth-place finish qualified him as an individual for the NCAA Division II Championships, scheduled for December 1 in Pittsburgh.
Humes previously won the G-MAC's weekly honor on Sept. 4, Oct. 2 and Oct. 22.
