The Chargers ran through tough hills, the freezing cold and falling snow to take sixth place overall with 195 points at the Midwest Regional. Thirty two teams traveled to Hillsdale for today's race. Grand Valley State University took first with 38, while fellow G-MAC teams such as Walsh University (131) and Cedarville University (184) took third and fifth, respectively.
Junior Joey Humes was the first Charger to cross the finish line, taking fifth place overall in 31:49.5. His time was only nine seconds off of his personal best, and it was fast enough to earn a trip to the national meet in December.
Sophomore Mark Miller ran well under the tough conditions, beating his previous personal record by nearly a minute. He finished 15th overall in 32:14.6, his previous best was 33:02.9.
Senior Eli Poth finished strong with a personal best as well. His old time of 33:18.9 was replaced with 33:06.3. He took third for Hillsdale and 42nd overall.
Sophomore Jack Shelley and freshman Adam Wier were the next pair of Chargers to finish. This was the first collegiate 10k race either of them have competed in. Shelley crossed the finish line in 33:33.2 to take 65th and Wier was right behind in 33:35.1 for 68th place.
Sophomore Morgan Morrison finished in 97th with a time of 34:04.7, which eclipses his previous personal record by nine seconds.
