After a tough few weeks of training, the Chargers traveled to Pittsburgh Saturday to compete in the Pre-Nationals Meet at Slippery Rock University. Out of 29 teams, Hillsdale placed seventh overall with 197 points. Conference rivals Cedarville, Malone and Walsh placed fourth, fifth and sixth ahead of the Chargers.
Junior Joey Humes led the Chargers with a fourth-place finish with a time of 25:17.
Sophomore Mark Miller crossed the finish line next for the Chargers in 25th place in 26:18, and senior Eli Poth finished close by in 26:33.
Sophomores Jack Shelley and Morgan Morrison finished in 27:02 and 27:07, taking 61st and 67th, respectively.
The Chargers will be competing for a conference championship next, on Nov. 3. in Canton, Ohio.
