Men's Cross Country Shows Big Improvement at Greater Louisville Classic

Greater Louisville Classic Results

Competing against a deep and strong field of Division II opponents, the Hillsdale College men's cross country team made an impressive showing at Saturday's Greater Louisville Classic.

The Chargers finished second out of 14 D2 programs at the meet with 70 team points, just two behind first-place Saginaw Valley State. Missouri S&T took third, followed by Wisconsin-Parkside, then Grand Valley State."

"The men were much improved," said Hillsdale head coach Andrew Towne. "We were led by Nick Fiene, who had a really solid race. After MSU, we talked about learning from our performance and applying what we had learned. The men did a great job of learning from MSU and executing Coach (R.P.) White's plan."

Fiene, a sophomore, took second overall in the Division II race, completing the 8K course in 25:05.53. Nathan Jones also turned in a top-10 finish, placing seventh with a time of 25:39.06.

Other point-scorers for Hillsdale included freshmen Mark Miller and Morgan Morriso, who took 11th and 24th respectively. Miller came in under the 26-minute mark in his race, finishing in 25:51.38, while Morrison's time was 26:23.23.

Hillsdale is back on the course next weekend when it competes at the conference crossover, hosted by Lewis University.
