2023 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Awards
Three strong performers for the Hillsdale College men's track and field team earned additional honors from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference on Tuesday, as the G-MAC announced its end of season awards for the 2023 Outdoor season.
Hillsdale put two athletes on the All-G-MAC second team, led by sophomore Richie Johnston, who was a runner-up finisher in the 3,000m steeplechase at the 2023 G-MAC Outdoor Championships to earn his first-ever All-G-MAC honor. Johnston also qualified for the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships in the event, placing third in the nation.
Also making the second team for the Chargers was junior Sean Fagan, who was a runner-up finisher in the 400m hurdles at the G-MAC Championships. This is Fagan's fifth All-G-MAC honor in three seasons with the Chargers, and he did it while overcoming an injury that forced him to miss virtually the entire 2022-23 indoor track and field season.
Hillsdale also got a third-team honor from John Baldwin who placed third in the decathlon at the G-MAC Outdoor Championships. A two-time second team All-G-MAC honoree indoors, Baldwin was able to match the feat outdoors in his first healthy season competing in the spring in four years at Hillsdale, thanks to a strong final performance in his signature event.
