It's time once again for the biggest weekend of the NCAA Division II track and field season, as the nation descends on Pueblo, Colorado and the Thunderbowl for the 2023 NCAA DII Outdoor Championships.

Hillsdale College track and field will be well-represented once again at the national meet, as the Chargers are sending 11 athletes to Colorado to compete for national titles and All-American honors in nine different events.

It's another solid showing for the Chargers, who have consistently qualified double-digit athletes to the Outdoor Championships over the past decade, and an exciting opportunity for Hillsdale with several athletes well-positioned to contend for honors.

Hillsdale has athletes competing on all three days of the NCAA Outdoor Championships, and you can follow along with live results and video at the links above, or go to Pueblo in person and cheer the Chargers on by purchasing tickets at the links as well.

The action kicks off on Thursday with sophomore Averi Parker in the hammer throw, beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET. A 2022 All-American in the indoor shot put, this is one of two events Parker will be competing in this weekend as she makes her fourth trip to a national championship. Parker is seeded eighth in the second flight and will be looking for a mark that gets her a spot in the finals to follow immediately.

Parker kicks off a busy first day for the Chargers, as Hillsdale has an athlete in both the women's and men's steeplechase prelims kicking off at 8:40 p.m. ET. On the women's side, junior Margaret Scheske is making her third appearance at the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships in the steeplechase and should be a strong contender for All-American honors, coming in with the sixth-fastest time in the field. She'll compete in the first heat and look to secure one of the 12 spots in the event final that will be run on Friday.

For the Chargers men, sophomore Richie Johnston makes his first appearance at a NCAA DII Outdoor Championships in the 3,000m steeplechase prelims at 9:10 p.m. Johnston runs in the second of two heats, and like Scheske, will be looking to secure one of the 12 spots up for grabs to make it to the event final on Friday.

Immediately following the steeplechase are the prelims for the women's 400m hurdles at 9:40 p.m., and junior Shura Ermakov's first race of the weekend. Ermakov is a three-time All-American in the 4x400m relay for the Chargers, and though this is her first time competing at a national meet in an individual event, she'll be one of the top competitors in the race, with the fourth-fastest time in the event of anyone in the field this season. The junior runs in the second of three heats, and is looking to obtain one of the nine spots in the Saturday final.

Junior Elizabeth Wamsley closes out Thursday night for Hillsdale with the women's 10,000m run at 10:10 p.m. This is Wamsley's second-straight season competing in the event at the Outdoor Championships, and she's looking to cap an epic season that saw her earn All-American honors in both the 6K race at the 2023 NCAA DII Women's Cross Country championships in December and the 5,000m run at the 2023 NCAA DII Indoor Championships in March with a third All-American honor.

Hillsdale is back in action on Friday with the women's high jump finals at 6:45 p.m. and sophomore Reagan Dahlquist. The G-MAC champion in the high jump outdoors, Dahlquist is making her first trip to a NCAA DII championship meet and hoping for a strong finish to an impressive season to date.

Friday also will be the finals of the women's and men's 3,000m steeplechase. If Scheske and Johnston can advance through the prelims on Thursday, they would race in the final with the national title and All-American honors at the line. The women's steeplechase final is scheduled for 9:15 p.m. and the men's steeplechase final follows at 9:30 p.m.

The Chargers finish up Friday with preliminaries in the 4x400m relay at 9:50 p.m. Hillsdale's team of Ermakov, Reese Dragovich, Dakota Stamm and Francesca Federici will be looking to earn the Chargers All-American honors in the event for an unprecedented third consecutive season in program history. The Chargers will be running in the first of two preliminary heats, and looking for one of nine qualifying spots to reach the finals on Saturday.

Hillsdale opens the final day of the meet on Saturday with athletes in multiple throwing events. Junior Eden Little kicks things off at 1:30 p.m. with competition in the women's javelin throw. Little holds Hillsdale's school record in the event and is a three-time G-MAC champion, and will be making her first appearance in a NCAA DII national meet on Saturday. Little throws in the second flight of the competiton.

The Chargers also have multiple competitors in the women's shot put, starting at 3:15 p.m. Parker returns for her second event of the 2023 Outdoor Championships looking to add a second All-American honor in the shot put to the one she earned as a freshman indoors in 2022, while senior Nikita Maines, the program's indoor and outdoor shot put record holder, looks to cap her illustrious career at Hillsdale with an All-American honor as well.

Hillsdale has two more opportunities to race on Saturday, depending on how preliminaries go the previous two days. If Ermakov can make in through the prelims in the 400m hurdles, she would be one of nine competitors racing in the final for All-American honors at 9:20 p.m. The Chargers' 4x400m relay team of Ermakov, Dragovich, Stamm and Federici also have a chance of running for All-American honors on Saturday if they make in through the prelims on Friday, with the final in the 4x400 scheduled for 10:55 p.m.
