Chargers fall to #19 Rollins, 6-1, to start Florida trip

The Hillsdale College men's tennis team likes to test itself on its annual trip to Florida for Spring Break, and this year is no different.

The Chargers opened the trip with a match against one of the top 20 teams in NCAA Division II, ITA #19 Rollins, in a match in Winter Park Florida on Sunday.

Hillsdale battled with the talented Tars in several flights but ultimately came up on the short end of a 6-1 final.

The Chargers got their lone point in the match at No. 5 singles from junior Sean Barstow, who picked up an impressive 6-2, 6-2 victory over Rollins' Moritz Stenzer. Hillsdale's No. 1 singles player, Brennan Cimpeanu, also took a set off of Rollins' top player, Luke Quaynor, before falling 6-2, 1-6, 2-6.

Barstow and senior Tyler Conrad also played a good doubles match at the No. 2 position for Hillsdale, pushing Rollins' team to a tiebreak before falling 7-3.

Hillsdale is now 8-3 on the year and faces an even tougher challenge on Monday, playing a match at undefeated Saint Leo, currently ranked second in the nation after winning the ITA Indoor Nationals earlier this spring.
