George Roberts named G-MAC Men's Golfer of the Week (March 3-10)

Fifth-year senior George Roberts has long been a familiar face for the Hillsdale College men's golf team, but he's racking up an impressive set of firsts in his final season with the Chargers.

In the fall, Roberts earned the first top-10 and top-5 finishes of his career. Today, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference office announced another accomplishment for Roberts, naming him the G-MAC Men's Golfer of the Week for the first time in his career.

The Hampshire, England native led the Chargers in the challenging Las Vegas Desert Classic on Saturday, shooting a 73-74-71-218 to finish tied for 16th overall. He was one of just seven players in the 14-team tournament to shoot under par in a brutal final round where every team in attendance struggled with challenging course conditions.

In a strong season to date for the Charger men's golf team, Roberts' consistency has stood out. He's shot rounds of par or better nearly every time he's taken the course, and he's currently sitting at a 72.35 stroke average per 18 holes, good for sixth in the G-MAC individually up to this point.

Roberts was especially strong in the fall, scoring a top-10 finish at the Midwest Regional at Fox Run, and taking top five finishes at the Doc Spragg Memorial Invite and the Kyle Ryman Invitational as well.

The Hillsdale men's golf team and Roberts next competes in Lexington, Kentucky at the SVSU Spring Invitational on March 20 and 21.
