Charger senior Ryan Zetwick wins G-MAC Men's Golfer of the Week honors (Feb. 17-24)

Fifth-year senior Ryan Zetwick chose to use his extra year of eligibility to return to the Hillsdale College men's golf team and chase the program's first ever NCAA Division II National Meet appearance.

So far, so good, for the Castle Rock, Colorado native, who's having his best season in 2020-21.

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference office announced on Wednesday that Zetwick has been named the conference Men's Golfer of the Week after leading the Chargers to a 13th-place finish in the St. Leo Invitational on Monday and Tuesday in Dade City, Florida.

After shooting a three-over 75 in the opening round, Zetwick came back strong in the final two rounds, shooting a 70 and a 72 to finish at one-over for the tournament with a score of 218 and tying for 38th overall.

The Chargers were competing in the toughest invite they've played in all season, with five teams ranked in the top 25 by Golfstat in the field, and several southern Division II powerhouses who have been able to play outside on courses all through the winter.

While Zetwick played well this week, it's only his third best invitational showing of the season. The senior also tied for ninth in the Doc Spragg Memorial Invite in September, and posted the first-ever top five finish of his career at the Music City Invitational in Hermitage, Tennessee on Oct. 26 and 27.

This is the second time in Zetwick's career that he's earned G-MAC Golfer of the Week honors. Zetwick also won the award as a junior on Oct. 24, 2018.

Zetwick and Hillsdale next travel to Las Vegas to compete in the Desert Classic on March 7 and 8 at Royal Links Golf Club.
