It took a little extra time, but Josh Davenport claimed first place at this week's Midwest Regional at Fox Run Tuesday evening. He didn't have to wait for another honor Wednesday afternoon.
Davenport was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Golf Player of the Week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office. Davenport's award marks the 13th time this school year a Hillsdale College athlete has earned a conference player of the week nod.
His second-round score of 67 was the second-best round recorded by a Charger golfer since the program was reinstituted in the Fall of 2014, and coupled with his other rounds of 73 and 74, was good enough to net him a score of 214. He won the playoff hole with three other players who also scored a 214, earning medalist honors at this prestigious fall event.
His 214 was the lowest three-round score by any player on the team this year.
