Joe Torres and Golf Team Earn Academic Recognition

2016-17 GCAA Academic Team Release

The Hillsdale College golf team had a succcessful 2016-17 season, both on and off the links.

The Chargers were named a recipient of the Golf Coaches Association of America Academic Team award from last season. In order to be eligible for this award, teams must carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. A total of 187 teams across all NCAA divisions were named recipients of this award.

Joe Torres earned an even greater award, being named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar. 

In order to be eligible for this recognition, Torres needed to be a junior or a senior, compete at least three seasons at his current institution, play in at least 50 percent of his team's rounds and have a stroke average of at least 78, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2.

Only 108 golfers in all of NCAA Division II were recognized with this award.
