The Charger men's basketball team never led in a 78-69 loss at Alderson Broaddus University Saturday afternoon.
The loss snapped Hillsdale's winning streak at five and dropped the team to 12-3 overall.
Hillsdale actually shot a higher percentage from the field in this game than the Battlers, 45.5 percent to 43.8 percent. But two other statistics led to major advantages for A-B: The Battlers outrebounded the Chargers on the offensive end 11-3, and A-B turned the ball over just six times, compared to 12 for Hillsdale.
Those statistics allowed Alderson Broaddus to attempt nine more shots from the field. Couple that with a 10-0 edge in fast break points, the Battlers maintained tempo and control of this game throughout.
A-B guard Mike Davis was terrific in this game with 22 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Senior guard Stedman Lowry had his first 20-point game in a month, leading Hillsdale with 20 points in the loss. He made four 3-point baskets and was 7-for-13 from the field overall.
Senior Ryan Badowski had 13 points, while junior Nick Czarnowski had 9 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. The Battlers did a good job of defending Czarnowski, who was held to nine field goal attempts.
