Men's Basketball Team Makes it 2-for-2 on Opening Weekend

The present has the Hillsdale College men's basketball team competing in the GLIAC for the final time in 2016-17. But Saturday afternoon, the Chargers sent a message to a conference rival of the future.

Hillsdale wrapped up play at Walsh University with a decisive 94-57 win over Ohio Valley, a member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, where the Chargers will call home starting in 2017-18.

The win makes Hillsdale 2-0 on the season.

The Chargers were a sizzling 52.8 percent from the floor against OVU and outscored the Scots by 21 in the first half and 26 in the second half. The Chargers held OVU to 32 percent shooting from the floor and forced 20 turnovers in the win.

Junior guard Stedman Lowry made his first 3-point shot of the game, which sparked him to a good day shooting the basketball. He was 5-for-8 from long range and led a balanced Charger attack with 17 points. He also collected 7 rebounds and had a pair of steals in 26 minutes on the floor.

Four starters cracked double figures in scoring, with Ryan Badowski scoring 16 on 6-for-9 shooting from the field. Nate Neveau had 12 points and 5 assists, while senior center Nick Archer scored 11 and hauled in 7 rebounds.

Redshirt-freshman guard Mike Travlos came off the bench to give the Chargers some nice production with 12 points in 15 minutes, going 5-for-9 from the field.
