Kyle Cooper Snags Second GLIAC Player of the Week Honor

For the second time this season, Hillsdale College junior Kyle Cooper has been named the GLIAC North Division Men's Basketball Player of the Week. He achieved this honor by putting together back-to-back performances that have shot him to the top of GLIAC statistical rankings.

The award was chosen and announced by the conference office.

Cooper led the Chargers to their first-ever weekend road sweep of the GLIAC schools based in Canton, Ohio, Walsh and Malone.

In Hillsdale's Friday night win over Walsh, Cooper tallied 20 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocked shots, while going 11-for-13 from the free throw line. He followed that up with an even more impressive performance Sunday at Malone, picking up 29 points and 11 rebounds with an 11-for-16 shooting day from the field.

For the weekend, he averaged 24.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game while shooting 65 percent from the field. He has eight 20-point games to his credit this season and currently leads the GLIAC in both scoring average and rebounding average.

Cooper is from Northville, Michigan and played his prep basketball at Detroit Catholic Central.
