Six Chargers earn induction into NFF Hampshire Honor Society

NFF Press Release

Six graduating seniors from the Hillsdale College football team earned a spot in the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame's Hampshire Honor Society on Wednesday.

The NFF selected 910 players for 255 schools across every division and classification of college football to join the Society as part of its 15th annual induction class. Since its inception in 2006, 13,077 student-athletes have been inducted into the Hampshire Honor Society.

The honorees from Hillsdale were tight ends Joey Brenner, Martin Petersen and Drew Rubick, wide receiver Jack Murphy, offensive lineman Hunter Pearson and defensive back Michael Valdez.

"We are pleased to honor another impressive group of athletes as part of this year's Hampshire Honor Society," said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. "For more than a decade, the Hampshire Honor Society has served as a powerful vehicle for schools to recognize their college football players who have distinguished themselves both academically and athletically, and we congratulate the schools and each of these young men for their commitment to excellence in all aspects of their lives."

Nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must have completed their final year of playing eligibility in Fall 2020 or Spring 2021, attained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2, and met all NCAA-mandated progress toward degree requirements at the time of nomination, among other criteria.

Hillsdale has had three players named to the Hampshire Honor Society in past years: Mark Nicolet in 2008, Phil Doerfler in 2011 and Steven Embry in 2014.
