- It doesn't get much better than this...Hillsdale College, ranked 25th in the nation, has a chance to win the 2018 Great Midwest Athletic Conference championship outright with a win over undefeated and 15th-ranked Tiffin at home on Senior Day Saturday
- Both teams are undefeated in conference play, though Tiffin has one more G-MAC contest remaining, against Findlay on Nov. 10,
- These are not your older brother's Dragons...Tiffin is the G-MAC's lone remaining unbeaten team, running its record to 9-0 after last week's 40-28 win at Lake Erie
- The 2018-19 school year marks Tiffin's first season in the G-MAC...The Dragons had been members of the GLIAC from 2008-18, then followed ex-patriates Hillsdale, Findlay, Walsh, Malone and Ohio Dominican to the G-MAC starting with this year
- Hillsdale is ranked 7th and Tiffin 5th in this week's Super Region 1 rankings...The top 7 teams from each of the country's 4 regions qualify for the Division II playoffs, which begin Nov. 17
- A conference championship guarantees nothing in terms of qualifying for the playoffs, as recent history has shown...In 2011, Hillsdale won the GLIAC regular season title outright but was shut out of the postseason...Even just last year, Ohio Dominican won the G-MAC, but was left out of the playoffs in favor of regular season runner-up Findlay...The mathematical formula that determines who qualifies for the playoffs doesn't reward a team specifically for winning a conference title, but a team that does so generally has put together a favorable enough won-loss record to make it by the math anyway
- In last week's 34-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan, Charger senior wide receiver Trey Brock set Hillsdale's all-time record for career receptions...He now owns all three of the Charger career wide receiver records, which includes receptions (222), receiving yards (3,779) and receiving touchdowns (32)
- Brock and 14 of his teammates will be honored as part of Senior Day in a pre-game ceremony that will begin approximately 24 minutes before kickoff Saturday
- Senior QB Chance Stewart is closing in on some records of his own...He has 8,948 passing yards in his career, 597 shy of setting the school's career passing yards record...His 64 career touchdown passes are three away from the current all-time record of 67...Both current marks are held by Troy Weatherhead, who played for the Chargers from 2007-10
- Hillsdale's current 7-game winning streak is its longest since 1999, and the team is 8-1 for the first time since that same season...A win over Tiffin would give the Chargers an 8-game winning streak for the first time since 1992 and a 9-1 record for the first time since 1988
