Chargers' Passinault named to ABCA DII Midwest Region All-Defensive team

One of the Midwest's best defensive outfielders ends his baseball career at Hillsdale College with one final and well-deserved honor.

Senior Danny Passinault was named to the 2024 ABCA NCAA DII All-Defensive team for the Midwest Region on Thursday morning, as one of nine players and three outfielders in the Midwest Region to receive recognition through the ABCA.

Passinault has been the Chargers' every-day starting centerfielder for four consecutive seasons and has flashed his absurd range and sure-handed glove throughout that time, making a routine habit of highlight-reel plays to rob batters of hits and prevent runs in the outfield. In just this past season, Passinault had multiple diving, game-saving catches in Charger victories, including laying out for a catch to prevent the go-ahead run from scoring in the final inning of a 5-4 extra inning win over visiting Tiffin on March 23.

The award for Passinault's defensive prowess is an overdue one, but the Traverse City, Michigan native was more than just a defensive specialist for the Chargers. He also put up strong numbers at the plate throughout his career at Hillsdale, finishing tied for fifth all-time in Chargers history in career hits (199), third in runs scored (142), ninth in RBIs (111) and eighth in walks drawn (80).
