Chargers pitcher Paul Brophy closes career with second CSC Academic All-District honor

2024 CSC Academic All-District Baseball Teams

At the conclusion of a difference-making career on the mound for the Hillsdale College baseball team, senior pitcher Paul Brophy is bringing home one final honor.

For the second straight season, Brophy represents the Chargers on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, thanks to a strong showing on the diamond and in the classroom.

In order to be considered for CSC Academic All-District honors, an athlete must be either a starter or a meaningful contributor, and carry a 3.5 or better cumulative GPA.

Brophy posted the team's best record as a pitcher in 2024, going 5-1 in 10 appearances and eight starts with 20 strikeouts. That's in keeping with a career of doing whatever Hillsdale asked of him on the mound, whether as a starter or out of the bullpen. Across five seasons at Hillsdale, Brophy finishes his career with 10 victories and two saves in 157.2 innings pitched, with 105 strikeouts to 65 walks.

The senior from Eckley, Colorado also was a standout in the classroom for the Chargers, graduating from Hillsdale this spring with honors and a degree in biochemistry, and earning Academic All-G-MAC honors every year while also receiving membership in both the Sigma Zeta math and science honorary and the American Chemical Society.
