Five runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh inning were enough for #20 Bellarmine University to break open a close game with the Hillsdale College baseball team and capture a 12-5 win Sunday afternoon in Louisville, Kentucky.
Hillsdale finishes its weekend series with a 2-4 record on the season.
James Krick and Aidan Brewer each came up with RBI singles to give Hillsdale a 5-4 lead in the top of the fifth inning, putting it in position to win a road series against a nationally ranked opponent.
However, the Knights struck back with a five-run sixth inning to retake the lead, one it wouldn't lose the rest of the way.
The Chargers produced a season-high 11 hits in the loss, led by two-hit games from Krick, Dante Toppi and Cooper Peterson. Peterson had one of the best games of his young career with a double, triple and 2 RBI for Hillsdale. Krick scored two runs while Jake Rhodes had a single and scored a run.
