Jake Hoover Named G-MAC Player of the Week

Jake Hoover Named G-MAC Player of the Week

Over the weekend, the Hillsdale College baseball team posted historic offensive numbers. The leadoff player in that lineup was recognized for his part in some amazing production.

Junior shortstop Jake Hoover was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office Monday afternoon.

In five games last week, all Charger wins, Hoover batted .591, belting three home runs, driving in seven, and scoring 11 runs. In a four-game sweep of Ohio Valley, he strung together four straight three-hit games and hit all three of his weekend homers. In those four games, Hillsdale scored 67 runs, with Hoover setting the table at the top of the order.

Through the end of the weekend, Hoover took over the G-MAC lead in total hits in conference games with 34. His .420 in-conference batting average is ranked fourth in the G-MAC.

Hoover hails from Aramda, Michigan. This is his first weekly conference player of the week award and is the 31st different Charger player to earn a G-MAC Athlete of the Week award this school year.
