Baseball Team Drops 2 to Tiffin

Game 1 box score: TIffin 6, Hillsdale 3

Game 2 box score: Tiffin 9, Hillsdale 6

The Charger baseball team lost both ends of a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader to Tiffin University in Ohio, by scores of 6-3 and 9-6. The losses drop Hillsdale to 7-12 overall and 0-4 in the GLIAC.

In game 1, Hillsdale was held in check offensively, but did score two in the seventh to threaten the Dragons. Tiffin held a 9-8 hits advantage, but the Dragons made the most of their opportunities throughout.

Sophomore Michael Mitchell, who has been a much improved player this season, was 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the opener for Hillsdale. Alex Walts and Chris Ackerman each had doubles in the game.

Hillsdale's power was shown in the second game, thanks to solo home runs by sophomore Steven Ring and freshman Jake Rhodes. The game was tied at 5-5 until the bottom of the eighth, when Tiffin scored four times to grab the lead for good.

Ring drove in two runs, and senior Ethan Wiskur was 2-for-4 with a walk. Dylan Lottinville had two hiuts and scored a run and Colin Boerst scored a run, had a hit and drove in a run.

The Chargers will return to Ohio to face Ashland University this weekend.
