Chargers Wrap Up Home Schedule on Winning Note

Box Score

Junior pitcher Lucas Hamelink didn't allow a hit outside of the infield in six excellent innings of work as the Charger baseball team won its 2015 home finale, 5-2, over Lourdes Wednesday afternoon.

Hillsdale faces a four-game weekend series at Lake Erie College starting at 1:00 Saturday.

Hamelink won his third game of the season in one of his most effective outings of this campaign. The only hit the Grey Wolves managed off the righty was an infield single in the sixth inning. Hamelink went six innings, striking out a season-high eight batters against just one walk. He pitched with some of the stuff that made him, when healthy, a top-of-the-rotation starter for Hillsdale.

He was supported by a big, four-run third inning by the lineup. The Chargers sent nine batters to the plate and scored four runs to take a commanding 5-0 lead. Six different players had two or more hits in the game for the Chargers.

Junior Michael O'Sullivan had a strong day at the plate and in the field, going 3-for-4 with 2 RBI. Junior Luke Ortel had two hits and scored twice.

Chris McDonald, Tad Sobieszczanski, Joe Gentile and Alex Walts each had two hits for the Chargers.
