The Hillsdale College baseball team was unable to overcome five errors in the first three innings of Wednesday night's 4-3 non-conference loss to Lourdes at Toledo's Mercy Field. The loss drops the Chargers to 4-11 on the season.

Hillsdale will open GLIAC play this weekend with a four-game series at Malone University in Canton, Ohio.

The Chargers scored a run in the second, third and fourth innings, but were only able to scratch out two hits in the game's final five innings. Lourdes scored three of its four runs in the bottom of the third, when throwing errors plagued Hillsdale. The Chargers outhit the Grey Wolves 10-7 in the game, but it was not enough for a win.

Five different Hillsdale pitchers - Joe Chasen, Jacob Gardner, Shane Armstrong, Lucas Hamelink and Ethan Wiskur - each threw a scoreless inning.

Junior Chris McDonald was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored to lead the Hillsdale offense. Nolan Breymaier, Joe Gentile and Michael O'Sullivan each drove in runs in the loss.
