Hillsdale College SAAC hosts third annual Trunk-or-Treat

HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted its third annual Trunk-or-Treat on Sunday, Oct. 30. Hillsdale College athletic teams, clubs, dorms, fraternities, and sororities set up booths, provided games for local trick-or-treaters, and decorated cars. The event was open to the greater Hillsdale community, with about 450 children attending throughout the afternoon.

"Trunk-or-Treat is a great way for teams to bond, but it also provides a great opportunity for students to connect with community members and other teams and student organizations," said Tyler Conrad, president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. "There was a great turnout this year from both college students and community members."

Hillsdale College students representing 23 different campus groups participated, with 36 cars and trick-or-treat stations. Each participating group provided candy, but the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee also hosted candy donations throughout the week to supply some extra sweets during the festivities. Almost all of Hillsdale College varsity athletics teams were represented as well.

The event also raised over $400 for Make-a-Wish Michigan.

"We are thankful for the volunteers and donors who made it possible for student-athletes to support the community in this way," Conrad said.

Hillsdale College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee organized the event for the last three years to provide the children of Hillsdale County an opportunity to trick-or-treat safely outdoors.
