William “Red” Farquharson ‘37

 

Broke new ground, as he became the first Hillsdale College athlete to earn five varsity letters in one sport, baseball, from 1933-37. He would go on to play professional baseball for the San Diego Padres, who in those days, was a member of the Pacific Coast league. He would later return to the college to serve on the Alumni Board from 1969-75.
