Parke Hayes ‘67

 

“The Voice of Charger Basketball,” Parke Hayes handled play by play on Hillsdale College basketball games for 27 seasons, a career that stretched from 1977-2003. He also served as the public address announcer for Hillsdale College football from 1982-2010. His voice described the action during some of the most memorable occasions in athletic department history, including the 1985 NAIA national championship football season, the 1985 NAIA outdoor track and field championships, the 1981 NAIA Final Four, and the final game of Katie Cezat’s unprecedented career in women’s basketball in March 2009. A pillar in the community as well as the college, Parke Hayes taught broadcasting classes while directing the college’s internship program for 25 years.
