Lewis Wins Second G-MAC Award

The fastest runner from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference at last weekend's NCAA Division II regional was named this week's top athlete.

Hillsdale College's Arena Lewis received her second G-MAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor Monday afternoon. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office.

Lewis finished fifth overall at the regional championships, held at Hillsdale's Hayden Park Saturday. She finished the 6K course in 21:41.3, edging out Walsh's Brianna Coy as the fastest G-MAC runner at the meet. Her fifth-place finish was a key in propelling Hillsdale to a second-place finish at regionals, and clinching a team spot at the NCAA Division II championships, held in Pittsburgh December 1.

She previously won the conference's award back on Sept. 4. A total of 16 different Hillsdale College athletes won conference player of the week awards during the fall, and Lewis was one of four to win the award more than once.
