Maryssa Depies and the Charger women's cross country team have maintained the success of 2017 into 2018.
Depies, a sophomore, was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Competing at home for the first time this season, Depies raced around the Hayden Park course faster than anyone else at last weekend's Hillsdale Invitational. She took first place with a time of 18:19.39, the best 5K time registered by any G-MAC women's runner last week.
She led total domination by Hillsdale in the race. The Chargers swept the top 10 places at the meet, finishing with a perfect team score of 15. She is a native of Muskegon, Michigan.
