Emily Oren Named Winner of GLIAC Commissioner's Award

Emily Oren is going to be int he market for a nice-sized trophy case when she graduates.

The senior distance runner was named one of 12 winners of the GLIAC Commissioner's Award for Fall 2015. The award was presented by a committee of GLIAC athletic administration personnel and was announced Wednesday morning. Award winners were made up of six males and six females across all GLIAC schools for the fall season.

Oren's recognition came as part of the 2015 women's cross country season. She was the only women's cross country runner in the conference to win the commissioner's award.

The Midwest Regional women's cross country champion, Oren has built a list of accomplishments as long as any cross country course anywhere in the country. Between cross country and track, she's earned All-American accolades eight times, and has won four indoor and outdoor track national championships.

She was a key part of Hillsdale's third-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country championships, the second-highest ever finish for any Hillsdale College program in NCAA competition.

Commissioner's Award winners must have an overall grade point average of at least 3.5 coupled with a high level of achievement within his/her sport. 

This is the second time Oren has won the commissioner's award. She previously won it for the 2014-15 indoor track season.
