October 6, 2012 - Things came together nicely for the Hillsdale College women's cross country team Saturday afternoon.

The Chargers made the trip to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, site of this year's NCAA Regional Meet, and finished in third place at the Lucian-Rose Invitational with 109 team points. It was the team's best finish in a team-scored meet this season.

Hillsdale placed three runners among the top 12 of the meet, led by junior Victoria McCaffrey, who finished in fourth place overall with a time of 18:24. Four spots behind her was freshman Emily Oren, who was eighth with a time of 18:26. Freshman Kristina Galat took 12th, completing the race in 18:31.

Shena Albaugh turned in a much-improved performance as well, finishing the race in 19:19, good for 46th place. Amy Kerst was the team's final scorer, placing 49th overall.

Friday, some of the team's younger and less experienced runners competed at the Michigan Intercollegiate Meet, hosted by Calvin College. Freshman Sarah Johnson led the small group of Chargers at the meet with a time of 19:38 on the Grand Rapids course.
