Fresh off their sixth straight season with 25 or more wins, a conference championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance, the Hillsdale College volleyball team is getting back to work this spring, building toward the 2023 season.
The Chargers will compete in four spring tournaments, facing off against collegiate competition in exhibition matches to gain valuable experience for the fall season to come.
The spring schedule for the Chargers is as follows:
March 25 Davenport University VB Tournament
April 1 Hillsdale College VB Tournament
April 15 Dunes VB Tournament in La Porte Indiana
April 22 University of Toledo VB Tournament
Hillsdale has high hopes for the 2023 season after winning 28 matches in 2022 and upsetting second-seeded Lewis in the NCAA Tournament to advance to the regional semifinal round.
While the Chargers do lose two key contributors in All-American outside hitter Karoline Shelton and middle hitter Linnea Larson, most of the roster returns, including All-American libero Alli Wiese, first-team All-G-MAC outside hitter Marilyn Popplewell, starting setter Lauren Passaglia, middle hitters Maizie Brown, Megan Kolp and Sydney Sahr, and defensive specialists Audrey Riley and Amanda Hilliker.
That returning talent, along with larger contributions from a soon-to-be sophomore class that got its feet wet in the 2022 season and should be primed for bigger roles this season, should have Hillsdale among the contenders in the G-MAC and the Midwest Region again in 2023.
