Charger Volleyball team receives 2019-20 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

AVCA Press Release

Champions in the classroom as well as on the court.

It's a daunting standard that Hillsdale College sets for its student-athletes, but it's a standard they regularly meet, and the Charger volleyball team is no exception.

They were champions on the court again in 2019, winning a third-straight Great Midwest Athletic Conference title in both the regular season and the tournament, and running the table in conference play for the second straight season.

And the volleyball team also excelled in the classroom, earning the 2019-20 United States Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for their achievements.

The USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award was instituted in 1992-93, and honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale, a standard the Chargers easily met for the 2019-20 school year.

Over 170 Division II programs were honored with the award this season, a record high in the nearly 30-year history of the award.

This is the eighth time in program history that Hillsdale has won the USMC/AVCA Award. With the bulk of the squad returning for the fall 2020 season, the Chargers should once again excel on the court and in the classroom in the coming season.
