Goung undefeated in a conference regular season is noteworthy enough on the merits.

To do it twice in a row is to write your name in history.

The Charger volleyball team officially ran the table in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference for the second year in a row, sweeping Ursuline College 3-0 Saturday afternoon in Pepper Pike, Ohio. The win leaves Hillsdale, ranked 11th in the nation, at 23-3 overall and a perfect 12-0 in G-MAC play.

In September 2017, Hillsdale began play in its new league by losing matches at Findlay (3-2) and at home to Cedarville (3-1), an inauspicious debut. But it's been nothing but winning for Hillsdale since then. The latest victory made it 52 consecutive regular season and tournament G-MAC wins for the Chargers.

Hillsdale was tested by Ursuline (4-22) in the opening set, a 25-22 Charger win. Hillsdale returned to its dominant form in a 25-9 victory in set two. Set three ended with a 25-18 Hillsdale win.

The Chargers hit .333 and .300 in sets two and three, and held the Arrows to hitting percentages under .100 in all three sets. For the match, the Chargers hit a tidy .283 compared to .039 for Ursuline.

Nine different players had kills for the Chargers, as everyone on the roster got extended playing time. Freshman Megan Kolp set a new career-high with 8 kills and a .667 hitting percentage. Sophomore Maggie DePorre added 7 kills, while Emma Noskey and Hannah Gates recorded 6 kills apiece.

Senior libero Taylor Wiese was outstanding in the back row again with 27 digs, the second time in the past two weeks she's averaged 9 kills per set.

Freshman Madeline Zenas dished out a career-high 19 assists while Lindsey Mertz added 11 assists in the only set she played in.
