Wiese Picks Up 2nd G-MAC Award This Season

Neither team the Hillsdale College volleyball team played over the weekend had a hitting percentage of better than .100. That means the Chargers were playing some serious defense, and leading the way on that side of the court is senior libero Taylor Wiese.

For the second time this season, Wiese was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office Monday afternoon.

In Hillsdale's 3-0 sweeps over Tiffin and Cedarville on the road, Wiese averaged 6.5 digs per set, which exceeded her already impressive mark of 6.1 digs per set, which happens to lead the G-MAC. She had 20 digs in the Tiffin match, which featured a number of length rallies. She had 19 in the three-set win over the Yellow Jackets at Cedarville University, one of the most challenging venues in the conference.

Wiese hails from Mattawan, Michigan.
