Karoline Shelton Wins First-Ever G-MAC Player of the Week Award

There wasn't much Karoline Shelton didn't do over the weekend to keep the winning streak going for the Hillsdale College volleyball team. And Monday afternoon, she was rewarded.

Shelton, a sophomore outside hitter for the Chargers, was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. The award was announced and chosen by the conference office. This is Shelton's first-ever conference player of the week honor and this is the 17th time a Hillsdale College athlete has won a G-MAC weekly honor in the 2019-20 school year.

Hillsdale was beyond impressive over the weekend, posting decisive road wins over Tiffin and Cedarville, two teams who had previously been undefeated in conference play. Shelton had two double-doubles in those wins, getting 15 kills and 11 digs against the Dragons and 10 kills with 13 digs against the Yellow Jackets. For the weekend, she averaged 4.18 kills per set and 4.00 digs per set, while picking up 3 service aces and 4 total blocks.

Playing a larger role in the offense this season, Shelton has taken full advantage of her opportunity, recording nine double-digit kill matches this year after having two such matches last year. She's recorded double figures in kills in four straight matches and has already exceeded her 2018 totals in both kills and digs with more than a month to go in the season.

Shelton played her high school volleyball at Shawnee Mission South in Kansas.
