The Hillsdale College volleyball team ran its in-conference winning streak to a record 21 matches Saturday, completing a perfect homecoming weekend.

The Chargers knocked off Davis & Elkins College 3-0 to improve to 10-3 overall and 7-0 in the G-MAC.

Hillsdale won the first and third sets by scores of 25-16 and won the middle set 25-11. The Chargers have recorded three straight 3-0 wins and have yet to play a fifth set in conference competition this year.

One big advantage the Chargers enjoyed in this match was defense. Hillsdale held the Senators to a team hitting percentage of .000 in the match, meaning D & E had an equal number of kills and attack errors as a team (22 each). The Chargers' front row net presence and defensive coverage helped aid in D & E committing that high number of hitting errors.

Junior middle hitter Hannah Gates has been playing some of her best volleyball of late, and flexed her muscle again in this win. She had 9 kills, one solo block and one block assist for Hillsdale in the win.

Freshman Karoline Shelton came off the bench and had another terrific all-around match for the Chargers. She had 8 kills and hit .667 with no attack errors for the team. She also had a pair of digs and a block assist.

Senior Kara Vyletel tied Gates with a team-high 9 kills, all of them coming in the first two sets. Sophomore Lindsey Mertz had 35 assists and 8 digs, while junior libero Taylor Wiese again sparked the defense with 21 digs. Sophomore Madie Schider controbuted 10 digs in a strong effort in the back row for Hillsdale.
