Homecoming weekend is a way to honor the past and to view the present.

Friday night, the future of the Hillsdale College volleyball team was on full display.

Three of the Chargers' four freshmen - Maggie DePorre, Karoline Shelton and Emma Noskey - all played key roles in Hillsdale's 3-0 win over Alderson Broaddus before a big crowd at the Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena. The Chargers are now 9-3 overall and 6-0 in conference play.

Shelton got off to a huge start in the match, putting down 6 kills in the first set, a 25-17 Hillsdale win. She'd go on to produce a career-high 10 kills in the match, coupled with an impressive .474 hitting percentage.

Shelton had her 10 kills against just 1 error on 19 attempts in the match.

DePorre played in two sets but made the most of it, delivering 7 kills with a .278 hitting percentage. She showed confidence and power in helping to clinch the match for the Chargers.

Noskey started set three and added 3 kills with a .600 hitting percentage to the Hillsdale offense. 

Together, the three freshmen combined for 20 of Hillsdale's 45 kills on the night.

Junior Hannah Gates continued her strong play with a team-high 11 kills, hitting .667 in the victory. She was also strong at the net, adding 5 block assists.

Junior libero Taylor Wiese had 16 digs and 2 service aces, and sophomore setter Lindsey Mertz had 36 assists for the Chargers.
