Volleyball Team Polishes Off Perfect Weekend With 3-0 Win Over Alderson Broaddus

For the sixth consecutive match, the Hillsdale College volleyball team won a 3-0 sweep over a Great Midwest Athletic Conference foe.

The Chargers defeated Alderson Broaddus 3-0 Sunday afternoon, completing a homecoming weekend that saw Hillsdale win all three matches by identical 3-0 scores. Hillsdale is now 13-3 overall and 6-2 in the G-MAC.

In full control from the get go, the Chargers won the sets by scores of 25-14, 25-18 and 25-11. Once again, the team rotated a high number of players through the rotation, with 10 different players registering kills in the victory.

Once again, Hillsdale held a big edge in hitting percentage against its opponent. The G-MAC's most efficient offense hit .375 for the match while holding the Battlers to a team hitting percentage of .170. The Chargers had 21 more kills and three fewer hitting errors in the match than Alderson Broaddus.

The Battlers did hold an 11-10 lead midway through the second set, but Hillsdale went on a 15-7 run to change momentum and take a 2-0 lead.

Senior Jackie Langer had a season-high 10 kills to go along with 7 digs, and had 4 service aces and a .500 hitting percentage in the win. Junior Paige VanderWall matched Langer's 10 kills to lead the Charger offense. Freshman Allyssa Van Wienen had 7 kills and 2 block assists, while sophomore Hannah Gates showed impressive power with 5 kills out of the middle.

Junior Taylor Bennett had 13 set-one assists, and Lindsey Mertz added 21 in the next two sets. Sophomore Taylor Wiese had 15 digs for the Chargers in the win.
